Will the Chicago Fire happen tomorrow night, January 4?

It’s been a long few weeks for One Chicago fans with Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD taking the last several weeks off.

While disappointing, it hasn’t been surprising as NBC has been known to put its shows on the bench in the final weeks of the year to make way for holiday programming and reruns. The move is often designed to prevent ratings from falling at a time when many viewers aren’t around in the evenings watching as much television.

However, now that the holidays have come to an end, one would assume NBC’s primetime shows would be settling back in with new episodes tonight. Instead, fans are in store for another round of reruns as there will not be a new Chicago Fire coming this evening on NBC.

When does Chicago Fire return?

After weeks on the sideline, Chicago Fire will finally return to NBC’s lineup with new episodes beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 4. The winter premiere is sure to bring some resolution to the fall finale’s cliffhanger which saw Kidd and Carver’s lives hanging in the balance after an explosion occurred in the closing moments of the episode.

Upon returning on Jan. 4, it’s unclear how many episodes NBC will air before the next break in the schedule; however, we’re optimistic we should see at least a few new episodes coming our way before the next break in the season.
