NCIS: Los Angeles fans can rejoice in the midst of cancelation news

Fans of the NCIS franchise breathed a sigh of relief when the flagship show and its youngest spin-off, NCIS: Hawai’i, returned to the air on April 10 after a three-week hiatus.

However, the golden hour isn’t for long, as the two shows have entered another three-week long hiatus since their return the previous Monday.

Both shows – NCIS is in its 20th season while the Hawai’i spin-off is in its second – will now air a new episode on May 1 instead of April 17 as would be expected.

There is a silver lining, however, as after a similar break of its own, NCIS: Los Angeles will air a new episode tonight, April 16, and will maintain its usual rhythm going into the following week.

The Los Angeles installment will have another bump coming along as well, skipping a week after the episode on April 23, before returning for three more episodes.

Those three will mark the last of the series, wrapping up the show’s 14th season after it was announced back in January that it had been canceled.

It was an eventful return from the hiatus for NCIS: Hawai’i, though, marking a significant milestone for one of its stars.

The episode, titled “Bread Crumbs,” featured guest star Kurt Yaeger, who, as of writing, has appeared in all four NCIS shows. The actor played Master Sergeant Strand, the father of Jane Tennant, in flashback scenes.

Kurt first appeared on the flagship program back in 2014, playing former Marine Sgt. Freddie Linn, who lost the use of his legs following an injury to his spinal cord.

The 46-year-old, who lost part of his left leg after a motorbike accident in 2006, went on to appear in NCIS: New Orleans in 2019 as Kevin Simms, a law enforcement officer “dealing with a life-altering injury.”

His most significant appearance across all the shows was his stint in NCIS: LA, which lasted for five episodes. He played CIA Officer Ferris, who went undercover as military vet Sullivan and sought revenge against Kensi Blye for shooting his leg, which resulted in its amputation.
