Hope Jacquinot (Season 6)

This childhood friend of Firehouse 51 paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) engaged in a passionate yet brief affair with Severide during Season 6. Pretty much everyone was skeptical of her motives — especially considering how quickly they got together after his last devastating breakup. However, Jacquinot (Eloise Mumford) ended things when she got a job as the firehouse’s receptionist. But she was soon caught forging signatures and was fired.

Anna Turner (Season 5)

Easily the most heartbreaking romance yet, Severide fell head over heels in love with Anna Turner (Charlotte Sullivan), a woman who was receiving his bone marrow as part of her leukemia treatment. The two had a tumultuous on-and-off again relationship throughout Season 5 that involved long distances, grand gestures, and a lot of tears. Especially when Turner’s cancer returned the moment the two finally started to settle down. She sadly succumbed to her illness.

April Sexton (Season 3)

When you’re as magnetic as Kelly Severide, you don’t just get one crossover romance — you get two. Chicago Med‘s April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) may have known our lieutenant since they were teenagers, but we don’t get to see them interact until Season 3. It was soon revealed that they had dated when they were younger, but it ended when Severide started rebelling.

When he learned that she was working as an emergency department nurse at Chicago Medical, he went and made amends for his behavior. Despite sharing a passionate kiss, their relationship never evolved into anything further.

Brittany Baker (Season 3)

Severide and this graphic designer meet over a craps table in Las Vegas. At the time, he’s still very much haunted by Leslie Shay’s (Lauren German) death and heartbroken from his breakup with Erin Lindsay (Sophia Bush). So he does what any traumatized person would do: he gets hitched.

The pair’s whirlwind marriage (surprisingly) doesn’t last long when Brittany (Serinda Swan) realizes she’s triggered by the intensities of Severide’s job. They may have been able to bond over the pain of losing someone they loved (he, his best friend, and she, her sister), but they soon agree that they’re not meant to be and mutually decide to split.

Renée Royce (Season 1 – Season 2)

This international finance lawyer who Severide rescued from a car accident eventually became his first serious girlfriend we see on the show. Their relationship coincided with Severide’s self-medicated drug abuse for his neck injury. Renée (Sarah Shahi) was the one who actually found the doctor capable of performing an experimental surgery that made it possible for him to return to his position as lieutenant. However, it meant that he couldn’t accompany her to Madrid when she got a promotion, so the two lovebirds split up.

In Season 2, she comes back claiming to be pregnant with Severide’s child, but a paternity test determines that he’s not the father.

Erin Lindsay (Season 2)

The Chicago P.D. detective met Severide while investigating his missing half-sister, Katie Nolan (Brittany Curran). Their chemistry was instant and immediate, and they quickly became an item. Sadly, the tragic murder of Severide’s best friend, Shay, sent him into a deep, isolated depression, and he pushed everyone—including Lindsay—away. After he missed yet another one of their dates, she broke it off.

Zoya Zvonecek (Season 2)

When Brian Zvonecek’s (Yuriy Sardarov)—or Otis, as you may know him—cousin from Russia comes to visit, Severide is immediately taken with her. They have a brief yet passionate fling, but it fizzles out. This gives Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) the opportunity to pursue Zoya Zvonecek (Larisa Polonsky) instead. Even though Cruz agrees to marry her to keep her from leaving the country, she doesn’t follow through with it.

Tara Little (Season 1)

What could have been just a short romantic escapade ended up almost ending Severide’s career. Tara Little (Brooke Nevin) came to Firehouse 51 as a paramedic candidate. She and Severide are immediately flirty, but that flirtation turns sour when she later falsely accuses him of sexual assault. Needless to say, their relationship didn’t go anywhere after that.

 

Renèe Whaley (Season 1)

When the series premiered, Severide’s reputation as a player was quickly well-established. However, Season 1 eventually reveals that his non committal attitude is the result of a failed engagement with his first love: Renèe Whaley (Kelli Barrett).

After an altercation with her brother, who filled in for Severide at the firehouse when he was getting neck surgery, we learn that Whaley cheated on Severide right before the wedding. When he broke it off, she got into a car accident while driving drunk and was in a coma for four months. Eventually, the two reconnected, and Severide was able to help her forgive herself and reunite with her family.

Nicki Rutkowski (Season 1)

The first glimpse we get into Severide’s romantic entanglements happens early in Season 1 when Firehouse 51 receptionist Nicki Rutkowski (Meghann Fahy) relentlessly pursues him. Despite his initial hesitancy, her persistence pays off, and they start seeing each other in secret. But it isn’t long before he learns that Nicki is actually engaged and breaks it off. Soon after their fling ends, she quits.
