CBS’ FBI is a fictional crime drama that follows special agents at the New York office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The elite team investigates the most dangerous criminal cases, including terrorism, organized crime and counterintelligence. Produced by Dick Wolf, the series premiered in 2018 and has spawned two spin-offs: FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International. It stars Missy Peregrym as Special Agent Maggie Bell, Zeeko Zaki as Special Agent Omar Adom “OA” Zidan, John Boyd as Special Agent Stuart Scola, Katherine Renee Kane as Special Agent Tiffany Wallace, Jeremy Sisto as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine and Alana de la Garza as Special Agent in Charge Isobel Castille.

Ahead of Season 6, the show lost Shantel VanSanten, who plays Special Agent Nina Chase, as she moved over to FBI: Most Wanted. Roshawn Franklin, who has recurred since Season 2 as Trevor Dobbs, was killed off in the Season 6 premiere as well.

Who is leaving FBI in Season 6? On April 19, showrunner Rick Eid announced his departure from the series. Eid has been at the helm since FBI first debuted back in 2018, and he’s been instrumental in the show’s success. He is also the showrunner of Dick Wolf’s Law & Order, a role he’s held since 2022 and will continue to hold.

“After six years of running two, or more, shows, and CBS now picking up FBI for three more years, this was the perfect time for me to step back and focus my efforts on running Law & Order and developing new projects,” Eid said in a statement. “I’m extremely proud of FBI, and couldn’t be happier for the cast, crew and producers. While I will no longer be the day-to-day showrunner, I intend to remain involved with the show going forward.”

Wolf added: “Rick has been a core member of the Wolf family for two decades … We thank him for all the work he did on FBI to get the series launched and look forward to continuing our creative partnership on Law & Order and beyond.”

Eid has worked on several other Wolf Entertainment shows, including Chicago P.D., Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Trial by Jury and FBI: International. His other credits include CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Hostages, Dark Blue and Conviction.

News of his departure comes shortly after Chicago Med‘s longtime showrunners Diane Frolov and Andy Schneider announced their departure. The pair served as co-showrunners for the medical drama for the first nine seasons and will not be returning for Season 10.

In early April, FBI inked a three-season renewal deal with CBS. FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International earned single season renewals along with several other Dick Wolf shows. So far, Law & Order: Organized Crime is the only Wolf show at risk of cancellation.
