Many fans considered Chicago Fire to be the best TV show of the whole “Chicago” franchise, with great characters, action, drama, and a dash of comedy throughout the episodes.

But apparently they began to notice in recent seasons that it had become your average TV soap opera.

Fans say that the reduction of the franchise’s budget becomes more and more obvious as time goes on, because in a show about firefighters, there is almost no actual firefighting, which made for the most intense and action-packed moments in the series, leading to some compelling dramatic moments.

Now, fans hardly get that and consider themselves lucky if there is at least one rescue in an episode.

They also feel that these parts have just been replaced with an overwhelming amount of drama, focusing mostly on Kidd, Carver, Severide and Brett, while the other characters get almost no attention and they no longer feel like they work in the same firehouse. While fans love them, their stories now feel overused.

Moreover, some storylines have been recycled, like Gabby’s adoption, while other plots are resolved in one or two episodes.

The comedic parts have also become rather forced and unfunny, with some viewers complaining that watching such storylines every week is just painful.

Finally, fans really miss the crossover episodes that brought some fresh and interesting storylines to the show.

Some fans are beginning to feel that Chicago P.D. is slowly taking the number one spot in the franchise, which is a great shame for them.

While Chicago Fire has been renewed for season 12, they don’t really think it’s going to get any better anytime soon and say that maybe it’s time to end the show while it’s still somewhat good.

The season 11 finale will premiere on May 24, 2023.
