The Real Reason ‘Chicago Fire’ ‘Chicago Med’, and ‘Chicago PD’ Aren’t Airing Tonight

The Real Reason ‘Chicago Fire’ ‘Chicago Med’, and ‘Chicago PD’ Aren’t Airing Tonight

‘Chicago Med,’ ‘Fire,’ and ‘P.D.’ will not air fresh episodes tonight but you can catch the reruns.

The good news for One Chicago fans is that all three series—Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.—have been picked up by NBC for the 2023-2024 season, so there will definitely be more episodes to come! Chicago Fire will air its 12th season, Chicago PD its 11th, and Chicago Med its ninth.

The bad news is that the shows are in a rerun status for the month of April, so we won’t see any new stories for several weeks.

Why isn’t One Chicago on TV tonight?

Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. are on tonight, but they are reruns. It happens every April, usually not this many weeks in a row, though. NBC only airs on average 22 episodes per season, so they hold back episodes in order to have fresh stories for May sweeps.

When is One Chicago coming back on?

Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. will be back on May 3, and once they are back, there will be no more reruns for the season. They will run four, all-new episodes in row up to the May 24 finale date.

Where did the One Chicago shows leave off with their April 5 episodes?

The Real Reason 'Chicago Med,' 'Chicago Fire' and 'Chicago P.D.' Are Not Airing Tonight

Chicago Med

Chicago Med’s“I Could See the Writing on the Wall” episode saw the launch of Dr. Grace Song’s (T.V. Carpio) pilot program, giving the E.D. a technological facelift. Of course, it didn’t go smoothly, causing great expense and pain for one of Dr. Halstead’s (Nick Gehlfuss) patients and making Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) so unhappy that she went to complain to Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) only to discover there was a bigger issue at hand. New owner Jack Dayton (Sasha Roiz) is trying to take the hospital private, which would mean the end of Gaffney Chicago Medical Center as we know it. Also, as his health worsens and he’s being evaluated for a kidney transplant, Dr. Archer (Steven Weber) clashes with Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) on a patient faking paralysis. Then Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) helps a pregnant mother with a heart condition, which brings up the issue that her own mother died in childbirth. And she feels compelled to inform Dr. Archer’s son that his father’s health is failing. The consequences of that will be dealt with when they return on May 3.

Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire’s “Danger is All Around” episode saw the return of Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer), who was on assignment to Chicago from Seattle for an anti-terrorist special task force, for which he recommended Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). Casey showed up at Firehouse 51 without even calling, throwing ex-girlfriend Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) into turmoil. After all, she had just started dating Dylan (Christopher Allen) and was moving on with her life. Also in the episode, Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) gets a visit from the aunt who deserted him decades ago following the death of his mother – her sister — and is now asking forgiveness and back in his life. And on a lighter note, with Tony (Anthony Ferraris) days away from breaking the CFD’s perfect attendance record, Mouch (Christian Stolte) and Capp (Randy Flagler) work to keep him safe so he can break the record.
