Station 19 Is Adding a Code Black Alum to the Crew

There’s a new firefighter coming to Station 19 and we’re already worried about what it means.

ABC announced Thursday that Code Black’s Boris Kodjoe will be joining Season 2 of the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off as a recurring character. Kodjoe will be playing “a seasoned firefighter with a mysterious past. His character is returning to Seattle FD after some time away, bringing with him new skills, new perspectives, and an approach to the job that doesn’t always fall in line with the members of Station 19.”

This is concerning on multiple levels. When Station 19 wrapped its first season, many of our firefighers’ lives were in danger, so Kodjoe could be coming in to replace any number of them. Or he could be the station’s new captain. Both Andy (Jaina Lee Ortiz) and Jack (Grey Damon) were in the running for the position, with Andy making a spectacular impression on the fire chief until she disobeyed a direct order in the skyscraper fire in order to try and save Jack and Dean (Okieriete Onaodowan).

Station 19 Ended Season 1 With Devastating Cliffhangers Everywhere

Even if Jack miraculously survives the Season 1 cliffhanger, he probably won’t be returning to work at full capacity for a while. It’s very likely that Andy and the rest of the crew are going to have to take orders from an outsider until she can prove that she is definitely ready to be the boss.

Whether Kodjoe is playing the boss or not, can the team find a way to open themselves up to a new member?

Station 19 returns this fall on ABC.
