Station 19 Cliffhanger Resolved: Photos From On-Set Celebration Accidentally Reveal

Fans have been waiting for the return of Station 19 ever since the explosive Season 6 finale, which left Jack Gibson’s fate hanging in the balance. With the seventh and final season nearly here, we have some insight on whether or not Jack survives. Keep reading to see if Jack Gibson dies on Station 19 … warning: spoilers ahead.

Station 19, a spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy that follows the personal and professional lives of firefighters at the Seattle Fire Department’s fictional Station 19. Executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, the series stars Grey Damon as the aforementioned Jack Gibson, as well as Jaina Lee Ortiz, Barrett Doss, Jay Hayden. Danielle Savre. Boris Kodjoe, Carlos Miranda and Grey’s Anatomy‘s Jason George, among others.

Jack has been a fan-favorite since the show first debuted in 2018. Viewers last saw him at the Firefighter’s Ball in the Season 6 finale, which quickly turned into a disaster when the dance floor caved in and took several team members down with it. Jack nearly fell in too, but he was pulled to safety just in time. Despite hitting his head during the chaos, he appeared to be fine and was even attending to the other victims. At the very end of the episode, however, he suddenly collapsed, shocking both his team and viewers. The episode ended with Jack lying on the floor unconscious as the squad attempted to resuscitate him, indicating that fans would have to wait until Season 7 to learn what Jack’s fate is.

In December 2023, Deadline reported that Station 19 will end with Season 7, which premieres on March 14, 2024. While fans were heartbroken over the cancelation, they can at least look forward to one last season, which will answer all their burning questions about Jack. If you want to know if Jack Gibson dies beforehand, though, read on.

Does Jack Gibson die on Station 19?

Does Jack Gibson die on Station 19? While we don’t know for sure, behind-the-scenes photos may have revealed that Jack does not die from his injuries. In a photo shared by ABC in February 2024, several cast and crew members attended an on set celebration of 100 episodes of Station 19. Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Jay Hayden, Barrett Doss and more were pictured gathering around a large firetruck-inspired cake with Station 19‘s logo. Fans were quick to notice that Grey Damon was also featured in the shots. The actor even brought his cat to the celebratory event, whom he held up in the pictures.

While it’s possible that Damon was attending the festivities to support the show and his castmates, it’s safe to assume that Jack makes it to 100 episodes. We also don’t think the show would kill off such a beloved character right at the start of its final season.

The odds of Jack surviving are looking high, but that’s not to say he won’t suffer a serious injury. Jack has had several concussions in the past — something newly-promoted Captain Andy Herrera (Ortiz) warned him about just before he collapsed — so this head injury could potentially be a lot more serious due to his medical history. While speaking to TV Fanatic just after the Season 6 finale, Damon addressed whether Jack might be facing a serious health condition that will effect his career. “If it’s going to happen to anyone. It’s probably going to happen to Jack,” he said, jokingly adding: “Maybe Jack will go blind because of his injury. Who knows?” He continued. “He’s this really great firefighter, but he keeps falling down and getting hit by things. He’s not very coordinated.”

Viewers will just have to tune into the Season 7 premiere on March 17, 2024, to learn about the extent of Jack’s injuries. In the meantime, episodes of Station 19 can be streamed on Hulu.
