Dave Filoni is the architect of the animated part of Star Wars with the Clone Wars and Rebels series. However, he also contributed significantly to the success of the recent live series Ahsoka and The Mandalorian. Vanity Fair magazine has now published an article about upcoming changes in Star Wars. They were put in charge by Filoni, who was promoted to the position of creative director of Lucasfilm.

Together with another Star Wars veteran and producer Carrie Beck, Filoni will set the complete direction of the entire saga, not just its serial parts. He will answer directly to the president of Lucasfilm, which is Kathleen Kennedy, from whom the satirical series South Park recently took a rather harsh turn.

Filoni will remain the director of a feature film from the New Republic, which is supposed to connect the stories of Ahsoka, the Mandalorian and Bob Fett, and whose main villain should be the dreaded Grand Admiral Thrawn.

It is Filoni who is perceived by many fans as the guardian of everything sacred from the Star Wars world, who at the same time can sensibly expand their lore. As a devoted fan of the series, he was chosen by George Lucas himself in 2008. Before that, he was one of the directing team of the cult animated fantasy series Avatar: The Legend of Aang (2005).
