Puppy love! Gordon Ramsay shows off a softer side as he and his family play with their new pet pooch on beach in Cornwall

He’s made a name for himself as one of the most fearsome TV stars of his generation.

But Gordon Ramsay proved he’s just a big old softie earlier this week, lavishing his affections on the family’s adorable new dog as they spent time on the beach in Cornwall.

The usually-formidable star, 48, looked overwhelmed with puppy love as he played with the cute pooch on the sand, a black and brown Cocker Spaniel called Bruno.

Joined by his family, including wife Tana and their children Matilda, 13, twins Jack and Holly, 15 and Megan, 17, the group looked to be having a whale of a time on the Cornish coast while playing with their new pet and their other dogs, including bulldog Rumpole, who they adopted from the Beckhams years ago.

Gordon kept it simple as he larked about on the beach, wearing shorts and a t-shirt and showing off his hulking musclar frame, before covering up in tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie.

Meanwhile Tana, 41, showed off her slim and gym-honed figure in a pair of tiny denim shorts and a classic black vest top as she stayed close behind her man.

The TV chef – who has just purchased a property in Rock, Cornwall – laughed as he picked up his tiny dog, carrying him across the wet sand.

Last week, he revealed the new addition to the family on Instagram, sharing a snap of his daugher Matilda lifting the pup in her arms while on the beach.

He wrote along with the sweet picture: ‘Our new boy in the family….. Bruno welcome to Rock.’

Earlier this summer, the Kitchen Nightmares star shelled out for a £4.4m cottage, and it seems he and his brood have truly been enjoying life on the south west coast.

As well as playing with their pets on the sunny beach, the family also showed off their more active side as they built an impressive-looking sturdy raft using barrels and planks, launching it into the sea.

Tana stayed on dry land as her wetsuit-clad children and husband went into the sea with the raft, keeping the dogs company as they watched on.

The Ramsay family relocated from Britain to California in July, while still having a place in the UK, and have been settling in well to the LA way of life, embracing the healthy hobbies of the Hollywood elite.

Elsewhere in the family, Matilda, often known as Tilly, will showcase her culinary skills in brand new CBBC series Matilda & the Ramsay Bunch, cooking simple, fun recipes like burritos and cupcakes in the kitchen of their holiday home in the US.

Gordon, who is famed for his short temper and potty mouth, insists his mini-me won’t be swearing in the new show, telling the Daily Mail, ‘[My children] know I’ve said bad words. I say it is an industry language. They don’t swear. They don’t walk around shouting the f-word.’
