Michelin-trained chef couple who’ve worked with Gordon Ramsay in bid to save Cotswold village’s last pub

A new potential owner has emerged to take over the 17th-century pub in the Cotswolds. Michelin-star trained chef couple Elliot Cree and Kathleen Cree-Vincent propose to return the historic Seven Tuns Inn into a community asset while providing an exceptional authentic food offering.

Their plans for the grade II-listed received unanimous support at a parish council meeting last night. A separate bid to save the site by members of the Seven Tuns Action Group (STAG) was recently blocked by the Cotswold District Council.

But the young couple are hoping to continue the groups’ efforts to save the site – and help preserve it for future generations. Bringing with them over 24 years of combined hospitality experience, including working in seven different countries alongside the likes of Gordon Ramsay, Cree and Cree-Vincent won over locals with their vision of an authentic Cotswold pub – with a world-class menu.

Alongside assurances of continuing to represent local interests, and working with local suppliers and producers, to ensure the long history of the pub does not end prematurely. Elliot Cree, speaking after the parish councils’ approving vote, explained: “We are desperate to help protect this beautiful pub and to bring our own experience and skills to a village we adore.

“Kathleen and I have worked in some of the world’s most prestigious restaurants – but now we want to focus on creating a traditional Cotswold pub which serves its community; and provides an exceptional experience with food you simply won’t find elsewhere.”

Such is their desire to cement the reputation and history of the ‘Tuns, they have already left their prestigious London roles to move to the area – where the couple have family and friends. They’ve been overwhelmed by the response to their proposals on Thursday night but still need the current owner’s approval to seal their bid.

Kathleen Cree-Vincent said: “We want to be a key part of this community and see ourselves here for the long term. “The response from the locals has been hugely positive, and we have everything crossed that we can get this proposal over the line and reignite the long story of the Seven Tuns in Chedworth for a new chapter.”
