While Rena Sofer may buy a house on the East Coast, she’s leaving the door open for returns to her soap characters.
For 26 years, General Hospital fans waited for Rena Sofer to return as Lois and were delighted when that finally happened. And with the latest explosive storyline that threatens to obliterate several lives, she’s caught in the epicenter. Lois not only facilitated her daughter Brook Lynn giving up her baby for adoption when she was a teen, but she also knew that baby was Gio. Sofer recently opened up about her life’s goals, which may not necessarily make the fans happy.
It’s Going To Be Horrible
Sofer sat down with Woman’s World and discussed a wide variety of topics, including the Gio (Giovanni Mazza) storyline. She gushed about working with Mazza, who she described as “kind and adorable.” She’s also glad that he has a major front-burner storyline going on, remarking, “I am excited for him and this amazing storyline he gets to play—because it’s going to be a lot!”
The actress also praised executive producer Frank Valentini for making her return uncomplicated. She was glad to pick up her character two decades later, noting, “I love that Lois has stayed true to who she is.” She felt that while keeping the details of Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) baby a secret, it wasn’t done out of malice. Instead, it was out of concern for her daughter and grandson’s well-being. However, she noted that the story is “Going to come to a head…in horrible, horrible ways.”
She’s Open To Anything
Sofer and her ex-husband, director/producer Sanford Bookstaver, who remarried in 2024, are planning their future together. She explained their goals: “We kinda want to semi-retire, so my bucket list is building a home that we don’t have to ever leave if we don’t want to.” They’re hoping to find a place on the East Coast that would accommodate her ceramics and woodworking hobbies and have plenty of space for their foster dogs.
But that doesn’t mean she’ll be out of soap operas completely. Sofer stated that she could commute to reappear as Lois on GH or even reprise her character Quinn on The Bold and the Beautiful. Thankfully for the fans, she stated, “I would be open to anything and everything.”
