Here’s What ‘Blue Bloods’ Star Bridget Moynahan Is Eating During the Family Dinners

We’ll have what she’s having! Blue Bloods star Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan on the CBS hit, recently revealed what she eats during the iconic family dinners. Although the Our Shoes, Our Selves author thinks she’s made some poor choices, her plate sounds downright delicious to us!

In an interview with People, the 48-year-old opened up about her go-to grub. “I think the first couple seasons, I didn’t eat anything, and then I moved into mashed potatoes, which was really bad,” Bridget admitted. “So for a few years there, I was eating too many mashed potatoes for four hours. Now I’ve moved to the cucumbers.”

Although enjoying platefuls of potatoes sounds tasty, as Bridget notes, when you have to eat for hours on end, it can become a bit much. Her co-star, Tom Selleck—who plays Police Commissioner Frank Reagan—echoed the issues with filming those lengthy scenes. “We embrace family dinner,” Tom told CBS 58. “The only problem is it takes six-to-eight hours and you have to just keep eating the same old food.”

We wouldn’t mind eating plates of potatoes at the Reagan family dinners!
Bridget might not whip up the smashed spuds on set, but you can actually enjoy a recipe approved by the actress herself. In her cookbook, The Blue Bloods Cookbook, she features a how-to for—you guessed it—mashed potatoes.

Even though it’s time-consuming for the actors, Bridget understands why the dinners resonate with viewers of all ages. “With the older generation, it kind of brings back the memories of when they used to do that. And the younger generation, kind of, is yearning for that. So it’s hitting everyone, I think,” she said.
