Game Of Thrones Star Casts Doubt On Jon Snow Spinoff Return

Game of Thrones actor John Bradley casts significant doubt on his return in a rumored Jon Snow spin-off as he gives a candid update on his character.

Game of Thrones actor John Bradley has given an update on Samwell Tarly’s potential return in the long-awaited Jon Snow spinoff show. Bradley rose to fame on the hit HBO show, playing the character of Samwell Tarly, a cowardly member of the Night’s Watch, and Jon Snow’s closest friend and ally. Since the show ended, there has already been a spinoff with the prequel series House of the Dragon, and a potential offshoot based around Jon Snow is apparently in development. This has raised questions about whether any character could return, such as Sam.

In a recent interview with the New York PostBradley stated that it is unlikely he will appear in the Jon Snow show. He discussed how he became immersed in his new 3 Body Problem character and would find it difficult to revisit Tarly. Read his full comments below:

“I’m not sure. It feels like David and Dan [Weiss] in ‘3 Body Problem’ have given me a whole new type of character to play. And, that cast off some of that Samwell Tarly persona, and some of the things that you associated with that character. I think that if I was to go back to it now, it would feel like a bit of a step backwards. I’m not sure that I could necessarily contact that character as easily as I could, then.”

Is A Jon Snow Spinoff Likely?

The Jon Snow Spinoff Has Yet To Be Greenlight Into A Series.

HBO has yet to confirm any Jon Snow spinoff series, with CEO Casey Bloys recently claiming the network always has Game of Thrones scripts in development.

Bradley recently appeared in the Netflix sci-fi show 3 Body Problem, created by Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. In the show, he portrays Jack Rooney, a former physics student at Oxford, who ventures into his own snack business. Although the events from the show could open up Bradley’s availability for future projects, the actor’s latest comments are less positive, and more decisive than a few weeks ago when he gave ComicBook.com a more noncommittal answer, which fueled speculation he would be appearing.

HBO has yet to confirm any Jon Snow spinoff series, with CEO Casey Bloys recently claiming the network always has Game of Thrones scripts in development. This could suggest that HBO is considering the idea, but finer details need to be finalized, such as striking a deal with Jon Snow actor Kit Harington and deciding on the creative direction of the series.

A big challenge for the Jon Snow spinoff would be its ability to follow up on Game of Thrones‘ controversial ending. The former Lord Commander was sent into exile after he killed Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and reunited with the wildlings to travel North of the Wall. Samwell was appointed the Grand Maester to Bran Stark’s council, which makes the reunion between the two questionable. Although Bradley’s response is less than stellar, it will take a while before there is more certainty regarding the show’s fate and potential story.
