FBI Season 6: Release Date, Cast, Story & Everything We Know

FBI season 6 will return to CBS after being delayed in 2023, and here’s everything we know about the renewal, cast, and story for the crime drama.

The CBS series FBI has two spin-off series already even though it’s only been on the air since 2018. Starring Missy Peregrym and Jeremy Sisto, FBI has proven to be an incredibly popular addition to the huge slate of crime dramas on television.

FBI is set in New York and follows a team of special agents in the New York field office as they investigate major cases. It’s been compared to shows like Law & Order and NCIS, and with good reason. FBI has elements of both shows as it has a weekly procedural element and high-stakes storylines, and FBI season 6 will likely continue to follow its format. By gradually teasing information about the characters, the show places the larger focus on the mysteries at the center of the show, but it also allows the audience to slowly get to know the team. FBI season 6 is a highly anticipated returning series.

Following the conclusion of the SAG/AFTRA strikes, CBS has announced a slew of release dates for 2024, including FBI (and FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted). The sixth season of FBI will air 8pm Tues Feb 13, 2024 – ahead of FBI: International at 9pm, and FBI: Most Wanted at 10pm.

CBS made the surprising decision to renew all three of the FBI shows at the same time – and for two seasons. FBI was renewed while airing season 4, meaning that FBI season 6 is the last season of the show’s early renewal, so CBS will have to make the decision of whether to renew or cancel the series once season 6 airs. The sixth season will air 8pm Tues Feb 13, 2024 – ahead of FBI: International at 9pm, and FBI: Most Wanted at 10pm.

Once FBI season 6 premieres, the show will be available to watch live on CBS. Those new episodes will then be available to stream the next day on Paramount+. Until those new episodes debut, however, the entire FBI franchise is available to watch on Paramount+. Reruns of the series will also air on Tuesdays at 10 PM on CBS during the fall season.

FBI Season 6 Cast

Series star Missy Peregrym is no stranger to crime dramas having previously starred in Rookie Blue. Peregrym has actually left FBI twice in the past, but she will be leading the FBI season 6 cast as Special Agent Maggie Bell. Peregrym’s character has proven to be a fan favorite, so the series won’t want to lose her again.

Little has been revealed about any guest stars or special appearances in the FBI season 6 cast, though Shantel VanSanten, who has guest starred in all three FBI series could make a return if a storyline called for it. The rest of the main cast of the series, however, is expected to remain from season 5 since there have been no announcements about departures. The FBI season 6 cast is expected to include:

  • Zeeko Zaki as Omar Adom “OA” Zidan
  • Jeremy Sisto as Jubal Valentine
  • Alana De La Garza as Isobel Castille
  • John Boyd as Stuart Scola
  • Taylor Anthony Miller as Kelly Moran
  • Vedette Lim as Elise Taylor
  • Katherine Renee Kane as Tiffany Wallace
  • James Chen as Ian Lim
  • Roshawn Franklin as Trevor Hobbs

FBI Season 6 Crew

The name Dick Wolf (Law & Order) has become synonymous with crime procedurals, and the series creator remains a part of the FBI season 6 crew. Wolf and Craig Turk created the series for CBS and remain executive producers for the show. There have been no announcements about departures for the creative team, so executive producers Arthur W. Forney, Peter Jankowski, Greg Plageman, Terry Miller, Rick Eid, and Norberto Barba are all expected to be on board for FBI season 6. There have yet to be any announcements about the writers room or directors for the new season though.

FBI Season 6 Story

It’s not clear what the FBI season 6 story will entail since the fifth season wrapped up the storyline of the investigators tracking down a serial killer. Since the season didn’t end on any major cliffhangers, the show could really take on any new mysteries for the new season. The series has rarely delved into the private lives of its characters, however, focusing on the mysteries, and the six-season-mark might be when the writers decide to do more of that, allowing the audience to connect more with the characters as long-running procedurals like Law & Order: SVU have done.

Like other Dick Wolf properties though, FBI does often tell stories inspired by real-life criminal investigations. Fans can likely expect FBI season 6 to have a few of those “ripped from the headlines” stories in its episodes as it follows the usual mystery of the week format.
