DONNIE WAHLBERG HINTS BLUE BLOODS MIGHT NOT END WITH SEASON 14

BLUE BLOODS star Donnie Wahlberg is hinting that the hit show might not end after Season 14.

“Potentially,” Wahlberg teased when asked if Season 14 is BLUE BLOOD’s last. “There are rumblings, so we’ll see what happens.”

Per SiriusXM, “Donnie has played Detective Danny Reagan throughout the show’s run. BLUE BLOODS, which premiered in 2010, has been a staple of CBS’s primetime lineup for over a decade. The show follows the Reagan family, a multigenerational clan of law enforcement officers in New York City, as they navigate the complexities of both their professional and personal lives. Wahlberg’s character serves as a dedicated detective with a strong moral compass, often finding himself at the center of gripping cases and family drama.”

However, it was announced last November that the show would end with the fourteenth season.

Movieguide® previously reported:

“BLUE BLOODS will forever be a beloved part of CBS’s legacy,” said Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, and David Stapf, president of CBS Studios, in a joint statement. “It ruled Friday nights with unprecedented dominance since its premiere and established itself as a pillar of our winning lineup with an exceptionally devoted fan base.”

Star Tom Selleck also released a statement, saying, “For the past 13 years it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also displayed the importance of family,”

“Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors and crew has been a dream come true and I’m grateful to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes,” he continued. “Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support and we offer heartfelt gratitude to the fans who gathered with us for dinner every Friday night.”

Other stars have hinted that the show might continue, though.

Gregory Jbara, who plays NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Garrett Moore, alluded to the possibility of more BLUE BLOODS in the future.

“I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but if our numbers are really good… I know that there’s a push to try and flesh out the back half…the spring of 2025,” Jbara said on the “Think Big” podcast.

“Tom [Selleck]’s got something going on,” he hinted. “He literally goes, ‘I’ve got a couple tricks in my bag that I’m going to present to the network.’ I think I can say without teasing anyone that that is a something that’s being considered.”

Earlier this year, Selleck said of BLUE BLOODS ending, “I’m not counting the days so I can do something else. I love the work. Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want work as long as they’ll have me.”
