Can Joey’s Bachelor season top Bachelor Gold?

Can Joey’s Bachelor season top Bachelor Gold?

Bachelor Season 28 is finally here and we’re so excited to see Joey Graziadei as the leading man. Joey met an incredible 32 women one night and ended up cutting 10 of them during the first rose ceremony. This is a Bachelor Nation record and fans are curious to see how the rest of Joey’s love story will play out.

On the other hand, the historic first season of The Golden Bachelor also just ended. Gerry Turner made history as the show’s first male lead and successfully found love with his current wife, Theresa Nist. The Golden Bachelor was a huge success, and Bachelor Nation viewers of all ages loved watching the seniors try to find love again.

The question now is whether Joey’s season has the potential to rival The Golden Bachelor. Joey has a lot of work to do and it doesn’t look like his season will be as successful as Gerry’s.

There, I said it. There’s really nothing wrong with The Golden Bachelor, unless you count Gerry’s endless tears. After years of watching young single men try to find love, it’s refreshing to see the golden guys on their journey. The women are definitely more mature but also fun and seem to genuinely care about each other. There’s a sense of loyalty and camaraderie among the cast that the original Bachelor demonstrated was missing.

The best part of The Golden Bachelor was the Golden Wedding, when Gerry and Theresa decided to get married on the spot. This is huge because the success rate of a Bachelor’s program today is close to zero. While there are some couples who are still engaged, it’s rare to have a Bachelor Nation wedding this early.

While Bachelor Nation fans are excited to hear that Joey will be the next Bachelor, he may still face some challenges. The last few seasons of The Bachelor have been extremely short, with the last two seasons being particularly bad.

Clayton Echard hosted The Bachelor Season 26, which was bad from the start. Clayton is an odd choice for the lead role since he hasn’t had much screen time on The Bachelorette. Once in the fantasy suite, Clayton dropped the ball by revealing to Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey that he slept with both of them at the rose ceremony. Clayton later left the show with winner Susie Evans, although their relationship did not last.

While The Bachelor Season 27 lead Zach Shallcross was successfully engaged, his season wasn’t much better. Zach’s personality is extremely dull and the women all carry the load. Even then, there weren’t many standout contestants and the lack of drama made Zach’s season quite boring to watch.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Joey. He was one of the sexier contestants on The Bachelorette Season 19 and seemed to really have a crush on Charity Lawson. However, in his own season premiere, Joey seemed a bit lost. Maybe it’s nervousness but Joey doesn’t show much personality to most women. Women lead most of the conversations, which gives me bad flashbacks to Zach’s season.

As usual, Bachelor Nation has promised that Joey’s season will be one we’ve never seen before. This is a big promise and one that has often gone unfulfilled in the past. To be as successful as The Golden Bachelor, Joey’s season would have to stand out in a pretty significant way.

Maybe it’s just me, but it’s hard to find someone who truly cares overnight. Daisy Kent was one of the only standout contestants who had an immediate connection with Joey. Daisy has opened up about her journey with hearing loss and cochlear implants and appears to be one of the most beautiful women in the villa.

Allison Hollinger and eldest sister Lauren Hollinger also stood out by making Bachelor Nation history as the first set of sisters (not twins) on the show. Joey was surprised at first but then chatted happily with the two. Besides these three people, the remaining women just mixed together. Of course it was just one night, but right now, this group of women overall seems pretty boring.

Based on all of this, I’m not confident that Joey’s season will be able to top The Golden Bachelor. However, we hope that we are proven wrong because Joey truly deserves to find the love of his life this season!
