Alberto Rosende is leaving Chicago Fire after 4 seasons as Blake Gallo

The actor will return for one final appearance in the upcoming season 12.

Alberto Rosende is about to battle his last blaze.

After four seasons playing firefighter Blake Gallo on Chicago Fire, the actor is set to leave the NBC series in season 12, EW has confirmed. Rosende will make one final appearance in the season premiere. According to Deadline Hollywood, which first reported the news, the actor is departing on amicable terms.

Rosende has appeared in 79 episodes of Chicago Fire to date, starting with the second episode of season 8. He also crossed over onto one episode of Chicago P.D. and one episode of Chicago Med. Outside of his work in the Windy City, Rosende is known for playing Simon Lewis on all three seasons of Freeform’s Shadowhunters.

Season 12 of Chicago Fire will also bring the exit of Kara Kilmer, who portrays paramedic Sylvie Brett. Fortunately, Taylor Kinney’s Lt. Kelly Severide is set to return to the show full-time after a leave of absence.

Meanwhile, sister series Chicago P.D. is losing Tracy Spiridakos, who portrays Det. Hailey Upton Halstead, in its upcoming 11th season. Her onscreen husband, Jesse Lee Soffer’s Det. Jay Halstead, departed that series last year.

Co-creator and showrunner Derek Haas also left the One Chicago franchise last year, so Fire season 11 co-showrunner and executive producer Andrea Newman will serve as showrunner for season 12.

Chicago Fire season 12 premieres Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
