Our hearts go out to The Young and the Restless’ Tricia Cast (Nina) as she starts the new year with the loss of her mother. The actress shared the news on Instagram earlier in the week with a simple, poignant post on her Instagram for mom Mary Patricia Cast.
It’s easy to see Cast in the beautiful black and white photo she shared of her mother in her youth. Clearly, her name wasn’t the only thing she got from mom. “Rest in Peace, Dear Mother,” the actress shared underneath the photo.
And that post (which you can see below) was more than enough to open a floodgate of sympathy and support from daytime friends, family and fans.
“Sending so much love to you, Tricia,” Beth Maitland (Traci) wrote. “My deep condolences.” It’s a sentiment, unsurprisingly, that echoed through just about every response to the post.
Tamara Clatterbuck (ex-Alice), Kate Linder (Esther) and Tracey E. Breman (Lauren) all sent their sympathies and let Cast know that with them, they were sending their love. “My heart is with you,” Linder declared.
“Love you so much,” Lauralee Bell (Christine) let her longtime friend know, while TV beau Michael Damian (Danny) wrote, “Oh my goodness Trisha! I’m so very sorry to hear this news of your mother! Please know that she will be in my prayers!! Sending much love to you!”
Barbara Crampton (ex-Leanna) and Doug Davidson (ex-Paul) chimed in with sympathies, along with behind-the-scenes folks like makeup artist Patti Denney who retired just a few years back after working on Young & Restless for over 40 years.
We’re sure Cast’s mom led an incredible life in her 86 years, and the actress cherishes every moment she had with her. Our hearts and thoughts go out to Cast and her family as they say farewell.
