Steel Magnolias fans, it’s time to start planning a road trip.
Almost three decades after M’Lynn, Shelby, Ouiser, and the rest of the ladies from Truvy’s Beauty Shop first hit the big screen, fans of the classic Southern film are getting the chance to experience its charm in a whole new way.
Grab your girlfriends and head down to Natchitoches, Louisiana (otherwise known as Chinquipin), because visitors can spend the night at the fictional Eatenton family’s home. The historic brick house where the beloved ’80s drama was filmed was converted into a bed and breakfast in 2003, but the interior and exterior of your favorite movie home is frozen in time.
Aptly named The Steel Magnolia House, the adorable B&B features six suites inspired by the characters from the film. The ‘Shelby Room’ is dressed in wall-to-wall pink—Shelby’s “signature” color—and the private bathroom hosts the same tub featured in the movie. The rest of the home has no shortage of Southern charm and there’s plenty of Steel Magnolias memorabilia for superfans to admire.
We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of the film than by spending a weekend in the beloved house on Jefferson Street. If you’d like to make a reservation, visit the website—you better book early!
