‘Will Trent’ Season 3 Episode 13 Recap & Ending Explained: The Fall of Rain’s Cult

Season 3, Episode 13 of Will Trent continues the gripping story from Episode 12, where the GBI uncovers the Olas Collective, an organization that appears to be a wellness center but is suspected of operating as a cult. In the previous episode, Will Trent, the titular detective, decides to infiltrate the group undercover to gather evidence and, perhaps, deal with his own emotional turmoil after accidentally killing a young boy. In Episode 13, Will faces increasing danger as his cover is blown, and the GBI prepares to intervene and rescue him.

The Oddities at the Wellness Retreat

Will Trent is still recovering from the trauma of accidentally shooting a young boy during a mission, which led to him being sidelined by the GBI. When he learns of the Olas Collective, a wellness organization potentially involved in trafficking babies, he decides to go undercover. He adopts the false identity of Bill Morales and joins the retreat, which is situated in the woods.

The episode begins with Will undergoing a cleansing ritual, a bizarre baptism where the group, led by founder Rain Woods, baptizes him with holy water, symbolizing a “new beginning.” Everyone refers to Will as “brother,” a term that feels overly familiar and cult-like. Though Will is wary of the group, he puts his trust in their principles, hoping to uncover the truth. Rain, the charismatic leader, shares her philosophy, contrasting guilt and shame, and offering Will an opportunity to find peace with his inner demons. Rain reassures him that the collective accepts him as he is, and Will plays along, revealing just enough of his real guilt to fit in.

However, the first red flag comes when Will notices Quincy, a member who opens up about his past trauma, suddenly announces he is leaving. Rain is oddly passive-aggressive in her response, reassuring everyone that leaving is fine, but it’s clear something’s amiss. Will later tries to talk to Quincy, but another member, Gabriel, stops him before Quincy can explain his suspicions.

Will soon visits the nursery where Naomi, a young woman, cares for infants. One baby caught his attention—it’s the same child that Rain had earlier delivered to the GBI station, and it belongs to Jade, a woman who had tried to escape the cult in a previous episode. Will realizes that the Olas Collective is not just a wellness group but is involved in something much darker. He collects DNA evidence from the baby, which he plans to hand over to the GBI.

The Cult’s Criminal Nature Revealed

Will smuggles in a banjo for Naomi, who is forbidden from listening to or playing music at the retreat. Naomi, who is fond of music, is touched by the gesture, and Will takes the opportunity to collect DNA samples from the baby. However, when the banjo is discovered by the group, Rain demands the person responsible step forward. Will, wanting to protect Naomi, takes the blame. Rain quickly sees through his lie and threatens Naomi with punishment. This is when the true nature of the cult is revealed—Rain is not just a leader but a manipulative figure who controls her followers with fear.

In a dramatic turn, Rain has Naomi dragged away to a secluded building in the forest, where members are tortured for disobedience. Will follows them, discovering a grave site where Quincy’s body is buried after he attempted to leave the cult. This discovery is enough for Will to contact the GBI, but he is caught by other members before he can escape. Rain forces him to drink a hallucinatory concoction she calls “spiritual water,” sending him into a trance where he experiences a bizarre, drug-induced vision of dancing with his GBI colleagues.

Meanwhile, Amanda and Angie discover that Jade, who had been in a coma, has woken up and confirmed that she had fled the cult after giving birth to her child. DNA tests confirm that the baby found at the retreat is indeed Jade’s.

Ike and the GBI’s Plan to Take Down the Cult

While the investigation unfolds, Michael and Angie apprehend Ike Cass, a man sent to kill Jade, who admits to having killed Dermot Park, a man associated with the cult. Ike reveals that Rain recruits criminals and convicts, manipulating them into doing her bidding. Michael, realizing that Ike was once in the army, uses this connection to reach out to him. Through Michael’s efforts, Ike eventually breaks free from Rain’s influence and provides crucial information about the retreat’s layout, which helps the GBI prepare for a raid.

The Final Showdown

Faith, Michael, and Angie infiltrate the retreat under the guise of sewage workers. While Angie searches for Will, Faith tracks down Rain. Will, still under the influence of the drugs, is rescued by Angie, but his first priority is rescuing Naomi, who is being tortured. The team faces fierce resistance, but with Ike’s intel, they successfully execute a plan to bring Rain and her followers down.

In a tense standoff, Rain orders Finn, a teenager manipulated by the cult, to shoot Will. However, Will’s earlier acts of kindness prevent Finn from pulling the trigger. Rain is ultimately arrested, along with her henchmen, and Naomi and Finn are freed. Jade is reunited with her child, and Will, despite the trauma, begins to regain his confidence. Faith forgives him for the earlier trouble involving her son, Jeremy, understanding that Will’s actions were to protect him.

As the episode concludes, with the cult dismantled, the GBI prepares to take further action against Rafael Wexford’s gang, which will likely be the focus of the next episode.
