Natalia Livingston is best known for her role as Emily Quartermaine in General Hospital. She played the role until her character died in 2007. She popped up over the years, making appearances in 2013 and 2014. In a new interview, she revealed whether she would return.
How She Joined GH
Livingston appeared on the Then Is Now podcast. She revealed how she got her big break on the ABC soap. Livingston tried out for many acting jobs. Unfortunately, the entertainment industry can be hard to break into. At first, Livingston was hesitant about joining the show.
It took some convincing from her father, who told her to approach it like a “vacation” rather than a “job.” Livingston admitted she was “green” when she “first started.” Though she was in “many acting classes,” it was her “first time on TV.” The small screen is different from the theater stage.
She didn’t want to watch the soap. Rather, Livingston wanted to learn about the family through the eyes of the producers and the writers. Emily died in November 2007 at the hands of the text message killer Diego Alcazar (Ignacio Serrichio). But then Livingston returned two years later as Emily’s twin sister, Rebecca. She admitted that it was probably a “mistake” for the show to kill off Emily.
A Return To Port Charles?
Livingston would “definitely” return to GH. However, she would be challenging to take on the hectic soap schedule since she has “two little ones” at home. But she would love to return in some form, even if it was a minor role. GH is like a giant family to her, as she has made so many friends.
“It was a wonderful, wonderful chapter, and I have so many dear friends from the show. Rick Hearst, who had just been brought back to GH, was just here for dinner with his wife, Donna. Tamra [Braun] and I talk all the time, and we have a writing group,” Livingston said.
Livingston mentioned that Cynthia Preston is “a dear, dear friend of mine.” She also still talks to Alicia Leigh Willis and Derk Cheetwood. Livingston is still in touch with most of the cast, so it would be natural for her to return. Fans would love to see Livingston return as well.
