Finola Hughes explained that Anna and Valentin have been on and off for years and even though he’s in prison she doesn’t think their romance is done yet.
Poor Anna is always caught between a rock and a hard place on General Hospital. Her chosen profession compels her to uphold the law. Her friendships and romances are often with men on the other side of the fence. She had let Valentin escape before, but this time, she had no choice but to arrest him since so many prying eyes were watching her every move. Now that he’s been shipped off to Steinmauer prison, it looks like the star-crossed lovers are kaput. But the end isn’t always the end, as Finola Hughes recently revealed.
He’s a Likeable Bad Boy
Soap Opera Digest spoke to Hughes recently and asked her if she thought the two could still have a future. After all, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) hasn’t been killed. The actress agreed that there could be one. “I do feel that this is one of those relationships where it’s like the person you’re not supposed to have an affair with that you constantly keep going back to.”
She referred to Valentin as “one of those bad boys that you just can’t help liking a lot.” She also felt that while Valentin and Jack (Chris McKenna) have been literally trying to kill each other, the WSB station chief may yet find a use for the Cassadine. Yet, there’s still speculation if this was the end of Valentin and Anna.
They’re Not Completely Done
Hughes admitted her astonishment that Anna and Valentin have been on-again/off-again for decades. “I do feel like there’s always that sort of romantic attraction between the two of them, and it doesn’t seem to dissipate.”
When Valentin said his goodbyes to Anna and his daughter Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez), Hughes stated, “I don’t think that Anna was feeling that this was the end.” She explained that Valentin thought he could give in to his criminal proclivities and still maintain a relationship, but that’s all gone now. However, she holds out hope. “I don’t know [that it’s over for good].”
