JAMIE DORNAN may be one of the most in-demand actors of the moment, thanks to his work on The Fall, Fifty Shades of Grey, and the forthcoming Anthropoid, but the down-to-earth star knows how to keep the craziness of celebrity at bay.

“The fundamentals of your life don’t change,” he told The Irish Times. “Nobody is changing my wife. Nobody is changing my kids. Nobody is changing the home I live in. Unless you actually go out and seek that change, then you don’t see it. We made a conscious decision not to do that.”

On the contrary, the actor – who welcomed his second daughter, Phoebe, with wife Amelia Warner in February (a sister for Dulcie, who’s three) – leads a life calmer than many might guess.

“We have a very quiet existence,” he revealed. “Actually, we panic if it’s 10 o’clock and we’re not asleep. Look, with two kids under two and a half, you’re just knackered all the time.”

Currently on the campaign trail for his new film Anthropoid – in which he co-stars with Cillian Murphy – as well as preparing to promote another, The 9th Life of Louis Drax, towards the end of the year, Dornan is showing that his talents stretch far beyond the role that has come to dominate his career so far – that of Christian Grey.

“Granted, the majority of people know me solely for that,” he told This Morning on Friday, “but to me – or any actor that is involved in any franchise – it is just another job and you move on to the next thing.”
