What “Fifty Shades Darker” Did That “Fifty Shades of Grey” Failed to Do Two Years Ago

The soundtrack album for the hottest movie on the big screen right now, “Fifty Shades Darker” has just debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

After hitting shelves on February 10, in its first week, “Fifty Shades Darker” sold 123,000 album copies, with 72,000 of those being traditional album sales (the rest were sales from downloads and streaming of the album’s songs).

Its sibling “Fifty Shades of Grey” failed to do so two years ago, debuting modestly at No.2 on the Billboard 200.

“Fifty Shades Darker” is the first soundtrack album to reach No.1 on the Billboard 200 since the soundtrack album “Suicide Squad” last September.

Kicked off by Zayn and Taylor Swift’s hit “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” the “Fifty Shades Darker” soundtrack also features hot names like Sia, Halsey, Nick Jonas and Nicki Minaj.
