Who is Pranysqa Mishra from America’s Got Talent?

Pranysqa Mishra is a 9-year-old singer from Tampa, Florida. She brought her mom, dad and little sister with her to her America’s Got Talent audition, which she was admittedly nervous about. In her intro package, the young girl explained that she has always loved to sing and began singing at 4 years old. She added that her grandmother is one of her biggest supporters. “My grandma always tells me to sing my heart out and that I will be on a big stage one day,” she said. Her little sister then interrupted the interview and told Pranysqa that she wanted her to receive the coveted Golden Buzzer. “I’ll try, but it’s kind of hard,” she responded.

After taking the stage and introducing herself, Pranysqa told the judges that she was “scared” about performing, but also “really excited.” She then revealed that her grandma would be first call if the audition went well. “She always wanted me to be on this big stage and now finally I’m here,” she said.

Judge Heidi Klum then asked if the audience was ready to hear her sing and after a resounding yes, Pranysqa shocked everyone with a powerful rendition of Tina Turner’s 1966 hit “River Deep Mountain High.” The budding songstress hit every note impeccably and had a lively stage presence to boot. By the time she got to the chorus, the entire audience was on their feet.

Each judge was floored by Pranysqa’s singing, but Klum was especially impressed. Before she even let the other judges weigh in, she told Pranysqa: “Oh my gosh, I did not expect that. We expect a lot of things, but I did not expect that. And you know what I’m going to do now because I honestly don’t want to hear what Howie, Sofia and Simon have to say? I want you to call your grandmother and say that Heidi Klum pushed the Golden Buzzer for you.” With that, the signature golden confetti began raining down on Pranysqa and the little girl began crying.

Klum then rushed the stage, along with Pranysqa’s family members. When host Terry Crews asked her how she felt, Pranysqa was at a loss for words. Backstage, Klum and the family FaceTimed Pranysqa’s grandmother. “She did really good, she got my Golden Buzzer,” Klum told the woman, who began sobbing.

Viewers at home were also taken aback by her incredibly vocal range. “She got the notes perfectly, those high notes gave me goosebumps, she totally deserved this Golden Buzzer,” one fan commented on her audition video. “A nine-year-old force of nature, born entertainer, personality for days, killer vocals. Kudos!” another wrote. “For 9 years old! That girl blew the roof off the place! That was so incredible! You made Tina proud girl!” a third fan chimed in.

Several fans also predicted that she would win the entire show. “With this killer performance I think she could be one of the serious contenders to win this show,” a viewer noted. So far, only two other singers have won Golden Buzzers. 55-year-old Richard Goodall, a janitor from Indiana, won Klum’s first Golden Buzzer in Episode 1, while R&B singer-songwriter Liv Warfield earned Simon Cowell’s first buzzer in Episode 2. “Her , Richard & LIV!!! 3 singers, GOLDEN BUZZERS!! I can definitely see one of them winning the competition,” one fan pointed out.

America’s Got Talent Season 19 airs on NBC on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST and streams on Peacock.
