Looks like Boston’sChris Evans is returning to his career roots with “Materialists.”
The trailer for romantic comedy-drama “Materialists” dropped this past week, and some people online are loving how Evans’ role as John, the everyman love interest, calls back to Evans’ more down-to-earth career performances in “Before We Go” and “Playing It Cool.”

The A24-backed film follows Dakota Johnson as Lucy, a successful New York matchmaker who is good at finding love but only for other people. That is, until she is forced to choose between an older man of means, played by Pedro Pascal, and John, an old friend and struggling actor turned waiter, who is played by Evans.
‘Materialists’ movie release date
The film is set to come out on June 13, 2025.
In terms of box office competition, “Materialists” will have to contend with the live-action adaption of “How to Train Your Dragon” coming out on the same day.
