Virgin River delivers the high drama and intense romance storylines that grab viewers in, and here are some of the most memorable from the series so far.
The hit Netflix show has quickly became a fan favourite, and since its debut in 2019 the show has became the streaming giant’s longest running original series.
The series follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) who seeks a new start following an extremely heartbreaking tragedy, and finds herself in a remote California town. She joins a small medical practice, and works there as a nurse. She eventually finds a new connection with Jack Sheridan.
From the dramas of the season five wild fire and the shocking reveal of who is the father to Charmaine’s twins, here are the most memorable storylines so far…
Mel’s backstory
In the earlier seasons of the show, Mel’s life before Virgin River is shown through various flashbacks.
The flashbacks reveal the death of her husband Mark – who tragically passed away in a car crash – and the heartbreaking stillbirth of their child.
The storyline brings the viewers closer to Mel, as they know more about her.
Lilly’s birth plot line and cancer
One of the most heartbreaking storylines is the character development of Lilly, from the birth of her daughter Chloe to her postpartum depression and her cancer diagnosis and death.
She puts baby Chloe in a laundry basket on Doc’s porch and eventually Jack finds her taking her to the clinic.
Mel takes the baby and names her Chloe, later finding out she belongs to Lilly – who doesn’t want her.
Eventually Lilly decides to keep Chloe and her older daughter comes to stay with her to look after the pair of them.
Sadly Lilly passes away in season three, and the characters and viewers are brought to tears during her emotional funeral
Doc and Hope finally get together
Doc and Hope have history long before the show started, the pair were together when younger but separated after Doc has an affair.
Despite this they begin to see each other again, keeping it a secret from everyone in town, although Hope becomes jealous when Muriel takes an interest in Doc – firstly encouraging Doc to date Muriel so the relationship isn’t uncovered.
Eventually the pair reveal their relationship to the world, as they realise they are still in love with each other.
