Van Hansis revealed that he loves Laura Wright’s professionalism and the joy and fun she brings to every scene she’s in.
Now that Van Hansis has taken over the part of Lucas on General Hospital, he’s been getting some good storylines. Lucas has been trying to get over Brad and met a new possible love interest in newcomer Marco. But he’s also had his hand in working to find out who was killing patients with digitalis and has been schooling his sister, Carly, on the dangers of dating a WSB agent. Hansis recently discussed how it’s been working this sibling rivalry with Carly’s Laura Wright.
They’re Fun to Play
Hansis had a discussion with Soap Opera Digest and stated how he enjoys the fact that Lucas and Carly are lovingly snarky with one another. “I think it’s very true to how siblings talk to each other, and it’s very fun to play.” Like many siblings, Carly has been annoyed by Lucas’s warnings that being in Jack’s (Chris McKenna) orbit could be detrimental to her health.
He noted that the characters talk just like real-life siblings, noting that aspect is “very fun to play.” Hansis further remarked that Wright always brings a sense of fun along with her hard work. “She just has so much joy in what she does as an actor — really in everything she does!”
Her Positivity Rubs Off on Him
Hansis also described what it was like working in a scene that has several storylines going on at the same time. For example, there could be a restaurant with various pairs or groups of characters spread throughout the set, and each one would be shot while the others waited their turn. He explained that during one such recent shoot, “Laura and I were both kind of just sitting in the background, and she said, ‘Are you having fun?’ I was like, ‘I’m having so much fun!’”
He further remarked that Wright explained she has fun all the time: “I always have fun. I just always have fun doing this!” she told him. He praised Wright for her positivity, noting that although their work is always fast-paced, she remains professional. That she doesn’t just bring her A-game because it’s her job. She truly enjoys what she does, “And whenever I get to work with her, that kind of attitude just rubs off on you.”
