Tracker Season 2 Trailer Reveals Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw Back On The Road After Hiatus

A brand new Tracker season 2 trailer reveals the first look at Justin Hartley’s return as Colter Shaw. Despite a shortened year, CBS was able to successfully launch its newest police procedural based on Jeffery Deaver’s book, The Never Game. Marking Hartley’s TV comeback after his stint as Kevin Pearson in This Is Us, Tracker became the most-watched series in the 2023-2024 cycle, even ending NCIS’ five-year streak at the top. Given this, there’s interest in learning more about Colter and his life moving forward. Luckily, Tracker season 2’s premiere on CBS is less than two months away.

Ahead of its return this October, the official Tracker Instagram account shares the season 2 trailer. Watch the video below:

The short clip reveals Colter back in his rewardist ways, helping different people track down missing people and reuniting them with their loved ones. Interestingly, despite Jensen Ackles’ confirmed return in season 2, there’s no appearance from Russell Shaw.

How Colter Shaw Is Different In Tracker Season 2 After Season 1
Colter Learned New Information About The Mysterious Death Of His Father

At the end of Tracker season 1, Colter was lying low after coming across new information about what really happened the night that his dad died. For the longest time, he thought that his older brother killed their father. After his reunion with Ackles’ character followed by his encounter with their childhood friend, Jennifer Morrison’s Lizzy Hawking, Colter became suspicious that there was more to what he knew about the incident. Those realizations will greatly impact how the rewardist operates moving forward, especially since the tragedy shaped much of his perspective in adulthood.

On the flip side, however, it paves the way for Colter and Russell to team up more frequently in the future.

Aside from that, learning new information about the death of his dad would make a significant change to Colter’s stance on his family in Tracker season 2. It was clear that his relationship with his mom had already been strained, but following Russell’s revelation about how she forced him to leave, the younger Shaw brother may be more cautious when dealing with his mom. Similarly, it could create a rift in his dynamic with his sister, Dory. On the flip side, however, it paves the way for Colter and Russell to team up more frequently in the future.

Hartley and the rest of the Tracker cast have their work cut out for them, considering the bar they set in their debut year. Because of this, viewers expect that its sophomore year will deliver at least the same quality storytelling. Colter uncovering new information about the Shaw family tree is a great launching pad for his new story, which can be more compelling and engaging.
