‘Timing Is Everything’: Lisa Kudrow Reveals She Recently Found a Note From Matthew Perry in Old Friends Prop

Friends is one of the most iconic sitcoms of all time and one of the reasons why it resonated with so many people over time is the natural chemistry between the six main actors. Friends starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt Leblanc, and David Schwimmer, and all of them brought their charm and comedic timing to the table.

While promoting her latest series, Netflix’s No Good Deed, Lisa Kudrow also appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show. During the appearance, she addressed her iconic 1997 Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, teased a possible sequel, and also confirmed the chemistry between her and her female co-stars from Friends was real. She also revealed that she recently found a note from the late actor Matthew Perry in the iconic cookie jar prop from Friends, per People

During the conversation, Drew Barrymore asked Kudrow if she ever stole anything from the set. She confirmed that she had but didn’t want to say what. Barrymore then asked about what happened to the cookie time jar from Friends.

Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode,” the actress explained about the iconic prop, revealing that she recently came across it and realized it carried a special note from Perry, who shockingly passed away in October 2023 at the age of 54.

“Timing is everything.”

I had recently found the note that he had in it for me,” Kudrow revealed. “I hadn’t opened it up or looked inside of it. But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it,” repeating what Barrymore said, “Timing is everything.” She didn’t reveal what the note said.

She had previously explained that Perry gave her the cookie jar in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2020. “The first thing I asked was, ‘This is so nice. Did you get permission?'” Kudrow said, as she remembered, “I mean, my car used to get searched every night when I left.”

Speaking about Friends, Kudrow noted the show was “everything good,” and confirmed her close relationship with her female co-stars, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston, adding that there was “never a question” with her and her co-stars.

Lisa Kudrow Recently Recalled Being Blown Away by Matthew Perry at Their First Table Read

When Friends premiered in 1994, only Courteney Cox was the most recognizable name in the cast. Shortly after its premiere, all six of them would go and become household names, reprising their roles in 10 seasons. Kudrow played Phoebe Buffay, and Perry played Chandler Bing, who would end up becoming a fan-favorite character.

In a recent interview, Kudrow recalled how surprised she was during their first table read. She said during the Today show: “When we had that first table read, what Matthew was doing didn’t sound like what I thought I was going to hear. It was like nothing I’ve ever heard before, I went, ‘Oh boy,'” Kudrow added, “Matthew was blow-away hilarious.
