It’s been 30 years since The Nanny first aired on television – and there’s been talk of a potential reboot or revival in the works, but not until the Hollywood strike is over, of course.
Fran Drescher, who played the titular character of Fran Fine in the sitcom from 1993 until 1999, revealed to TVInsider why she thinks the series remains so popular even today.
“I do think a lot of the kids that were watching in the 1990s. Those millennials that now are grownups are appreciating the writing quality and a lot of the jokes that went over their head when they were younger,” Drescher explained – months before she declared all Hollywood actors were to go on strike.
“We always wrote to adults, as well as kids with double entendre.”
