Ross Opens Up About His Biggest ‘Mistake’ to a Fellow Friends Character – The Shocking Truth!

Throughout Friends, Ross (David Schwimmer) often worried and complained about his failed marriages, but as it turns out, he shares this “failure” with another member of the group. Over two decades after its final episode aired, Friends continues to be quite popular, and its fanbase has expanded thanks to its arrival in the world of streaming. The opportunity to rewatch Friends at any moment and as many times as one’s heart desires inevitably brings out details that have been overlooked or forgotten – from mistakes and things that haven’t aged well to fun coincidences, connections, and more
Over the course of 10 seasons, Friends sees Ross, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow), Joey (Matt LeBlanc), Chandler (Matthew Perry), Monica (Courteney Cox), and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) go through many ups and downs in all areas of their lives, mostly in their love lives. Except for Joey, all the main characters in Friends find their “lobsters” by the end of the series, but getting there was especially challenging for some. Ross falls into that category, as he got married and divorced more than once, but the former is a record he shares with one of his best friends.

Ross & Phoebe Were Both Married Three Times In Friends

Yes, Phoebe Was Married Three Time
Every member of Friends’ main group had a running gag, and Ross’ main one was how many times he was married and how each of those marriages failed. Before the events of the first season of Friends, Ross married Carol (Jane Sibbett), but during the pilot episode, he revealed they were divorcing because Carol came out as a lesbian. After dating Rachel and it having a messy ending with the whole “we were on a break” thing, Ross dated Emily Waltham (Helen Baxendale) in Friends season 4
However, it didn’t last long because Ross said Rachel’s name at the altar, but they divorced shortly after in season 5 due to Emily not trusting Ross. The following season, during a drunk night in Las Vegas, Ross and Rachel got married, but they divorced a couple of episodes later. Ross, then, was married three times and constantly reminded his friends (and the audience) of it, but Phoebe was also married three times.
Before Friends season 1, Phoebe married Duncan (Steve Zahn), a Canadian ice skater. This was a green card marriage, but Phoebe developed feelings for him despite knowing he was gay. In Friends season 2, Duncan returned to amicably divorce Phoebe so he could marry another woman, revealing that he was never gay. Later on, in Friends season 6, Phoebe hinted at getting married in Las Vegas, though exactly when and to whom is never revealed. Lastly, Phoebe married Mike (Paul Rudd) in Friends’ final season, and she finally had the stable, loving family she didn’t have growing up.

Ross Still Has The Biggest Number Of Divorces In Friends

It’s Unlikely Any Of His Friends Will Break His Record
Ross and Phoebe both have three marriages in their history by the end of Friends, but Ross still holds the record for most divorces out of the main group. Phoebe divorced twice – Duncan and the mysterious Vegas husband –, and it’s understood she and Mike’s happy marriage continued as Joey mentions all his friends having their own families in his spinoff show. Ross, on the other hand, first divorced Carol, who went on to marry Susan (Jessica Hecht). Ross later divorced Emily, with whom he never actually had an effective married life.

The same happened with Rachel after their Vegas marriage, and as much as Rachel tried to get an annulment, the only way they could end the marriage was through a divorce. Ross married and divorced a total of three times in Friends, and it’s open to the audience’s interpretation if he and Rachel could have decided to marry again at some point after the series finale or if he finally gave up on marriage but continued to live happily with Rachel and their daughter.
