Netflix Virgin River fans fume Doc and Mel ‘need to step up’ after awkward storylines

Virgin River fans are busy rewatching the show ahead of the release of season 7 and some people have taken to Reddit to air their confusion at the storylines

Virgin River fans are airing their frustrations, with many fuming there are “too many unplanned pregnancies” in the show.

With viewers going back to watch the show ahead of the next season, some people have admitted they’ve grown tired of watching the same storylines. Season 4 saw Mel unexpectedly find out she was pregnant before she sadly suffered a miscarriage in season 5.Charmaine was another pregnant character, with many fans complaining about how long her pregnancy seemed to go on for. Now, one disgruntled viewer took to Reddit to fume about all the babies. In a post titled, “Does No One in VR Use Birth Control,” the Reddit user said, “Pretty much the title says it all!”They then asked, “Way too many unplanned pregnancy action in this little community. Doc & Mel need to step up the bc public education!”

In response, one fan pointed out, “Robyn Carr’s books are all about babies – pregnancy, midwifery, miscarriage, adoption, unplanned, conception difficulties. She covers it all.”

Another questioned, “Wasn’t there an early season plot with Lizzie getting birth control from Mel? But then she ended up pregnant anyway lol.”

Someone else fumed, “Just like on soap operas,” while a fourth person joked, “Small towns.. not much else to do..” Someone else suggested, “They basically live in the wilderness so maybe they don’t have access there. I mean Doc is the one who would prescribe it and who would want him to know you’re sleeping around?”The criticism comes as Netflix is gearing up for the release of season 7 of Virgin River. The streaming giant recently announced Sara Canning and Cody Kearsley will be joining the cast for the new season.

Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Tim Matheson and Annette O’Toole will all be returning to the show. Also coming back to Virgin River are Colin Lawrence, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Zibby Allen, Sarah Dugdale, Marco Grazzini, Kai Bradbury and Kandyse McClure.

Sadly, some cast members will be saying goodbye to the show. Mark Ghanime, who plays Cameron, will no longer be a series regular on Virgin River. Patrick Sean Smith told TV Line Mark will “always be a part of the world.” He continued, ” I would love to see his character back, but he won’t be a series regular in season 7, unfortunately.”

However, Mark could come back in a smaller capacity. Patrick teased, “I would love and can definitely imagine several opportunities of how we could bring Cameron back into our world.”
