History is about to be made once again within the NCIS franchise and we’re honestly more than a little surprised it’s taken this long to reach this particular milestone!
Beginning this fall, CBS will be turning over its entire Tuesday night lineup to the NCIS franchise, marking the first time in the history of the franchise that we’ll be getting an entire night of NCIS shows on CBS! While we have seen NCIS blocks many times over the years, including this season with NCIS and NCIS: Origins paired together on Monday nights, CBS has somehow never aired a full night of NCIS shows. That will finally change this fall as the flagship series joins the network’s two current offshoots for a night NCIS fans aren’t going to want to miss!
Leading off the night will be NCIS, which will move back into its opening slot on Tuesday night, which it had held down for most of its run before being moved to Mondays in the 2021 season. Leading out of new episodes of NCIS will be NCIS: Origins, which will also be airing an hour earlier, beginning in the fall. Closing out the night will then be new episodes of NCIS: Sydney, moving to the final time slot of the night.
Funny enough, FBI was responsible for NCIS moving to Monday nights after 18 years of holding down the fort on Tuesday nights. The move was a result of CBS looking to turn over its Tuesday night to the FBI franchise of shows. With FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted now coming to an end, CBS has decided to turn Tuesday nights back over to the NCIS franchise and will be moving the FBI shows to Monday nights.
Starting this fall, FBI will be taking over the 9 p.m. hour in CBS’s Monday night block, which had been previously occupied by NCIS. FBI will then lead into the franchise’s newest addition, CIA, which will be airing in the closing hour of Monday night. The move makes complete sense with the FBI franchise scaling back from three shows to just two, and we imagine the NCIS block on Tuesday is only going to help to further strengthen the performance of the entire franchise of shows!
