Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern Gets Comics-Accurate Costume In DC Universe Art

With Nathan Fillion joining Superman: Legacy as Guy Gardner, new DC Universe fan art gives his Green Lantern a comics-accurate costume. The new DC Universe is on its way as DC Studios are developing multiple TV shows and movies from James Gunn and Peter Safran. The first proper film that will kick the DC Universe into gear is Superman: Legacy, featuring David Corenswet as the latest version of the Man of Steel.
Even though Superman: Legacy will primarily be Clark Kent’s story, the new reboot will also include multiple DC Comics heroes. One of the new Superman: Legacy cast members includes Nathan Fillion, who previously appeared in the DCEU as part of Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. This time, however, Fillion will be playing one of the big Green Lanterns, specifically Guy Gardner.

As fans are eagerly waiting to see what Fillion will look like as the Emerald Knight, Youssef Defenshi recently did a rendition of The Rookie star in the costume, to give an idea of how Superman: Legacy may design his suit. This iteration of Guy’s uniform is slightly more modern, while still including his iconic Green Lantern vest from the comics.
Everything We Know About Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern
While plot details are still being kept under wraps, Fillion’s Green Lantern will serve a major purpose for Superman: Legacy and the rest of the DC Universe. Gunn has specified numerous times that in this continuity, a lot of superheroes are already established and active, including Krypton’s last son, which is why Superman: Legacy won’t be an origin story for the titular hero. Fillion coming on board as Guy will be to help sell the point of how pre-established the DC Universe is when the film releases in 2025.
The bigger mystery about Fillion’s Green Lantern is whether or not he already has any relationships with Hal Jordan and John Stewart, who are also set to join the DC Universe in Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters.” The two heroes are set to headline the upcoming Lanterns TV show for Max, but when Fillion was cast, it was never specified if Guy will show up in the series after Superman: Legacy. It wouldn’t be shocking if he at least guest-stars in at least one episode throughout Lanterns season 1.
Needless to say, it is exciting to see how the DC Universe is investing so much already with the Green Lantern Corps, especially as the DCEU didn’t feature any of the major heroes. This is one of the most beloved mythologies in DC Comics that deserve to be told in live-action, whether it be on the big or small screens. Hopefully, more details about the Green Lanterns in the DC Universe will emerge sooner rather than later.
