The Young and the Restless star Melissa Ordway confirmed on her Instagram Story that she is back on set filming new episodes of the soap opera as the fan favorite heiress Abby Winters (formerly Abby Newman).
Taking to her social media account, the actress teased that she was on a flight from her home in Nashville to Los Angeles. When a follower asked her what for, she responded that it was to film The Young and The Restless.
Ordway announced on her Instagram last November that she was no longer on contract with the CBS daytime drama. The actress had been appearing on a regular contract basis with the series since she took over the role of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Davidson) daughter in 2013.
Regarding her exit, Ordway said at the time on her Instagram Story, “The show decided to take me off contract so I decided to change my look up a bit for auditions. Definitely not something I wanted, but I love and respect my YR family and appreciate any time they ask me back.”
Ordway has continued to make occasional appearances on the show since being removed from contract.
Over the last few months, one project Ordway teased was a guest appearance on the upcoming second season of Blue Ridge: The Series. The show, a continuation of the movie by the same name, tells the story of Justin Wise (Johnathon Schaech), a sheriff in a small mountain town. Wise moved there to be closer to his ex-wife and daughter, but he quickly learns that this town isn’t as quiet or wholesome as he once believed. Everything changes when a murder takes place and he has to help solve the case. Fellow soap stars A. Martinez (Santa Barbara) and Burgess Jenkins (The Young and the Restless) appear in the series.
