Things are getting serious on Love Is Blind!
The upcoming 8th season of the hit Netflix dating series, which premieres Feb. 14, chronicles a group of singles from Minnesota ready to find their forever love.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the new season, Sara Carton and Ben Mezzenga face one of their first hurdles as they appear to be on very different pages when it comes to religion.
Sara, 29, broaches the topic and tells Ben, 28, she wants to “hear more” about his thoughts on religion.
“I grew up in a very strong Christian household,” he explains. “There’s a lot of things that I believe about the Bible, and I believe about the Christian faith, but it’s all hard to obviously know for certain. I believe that there’s the one true God that loves us, and that’s pretty much it.”
The oncologist nurse admits that she is the polar opposite, saying, “I’m not religious.”
“I was raised Catholic,” she shares. “I do think there is a higher power. But the main thing for me that’s really tough about religion is my sister, Lisa.”
Sara calls Lisa her “best friend,” adding, “She’s like my best friend. She’s gay and she is my absolute number one, like, she’s just the best person ever.”
She goes on to highlight her concerns about organized religion, saying, “There’s so much hypocrisy, and I’m not saying all the time, because there is good. But for me, I find it really difficult to go to a church, and like, practice, when it’s like, love thy neighbor, but then it’s also like, LGBT is going to go to hell.”
Though Sara and Ben appear to have open communication with each other, fans will have to wait until Friday to find out if they take things to the next level, or if their religious differences are too much to bear.
