Lisa Yamada explained that Luna kissing Bill out of left field was due to her not having a strong male presence in her life.
It was pretty wild when Luna and Remy met on The Bold and the Beautiful. Fans’ heads nearly exploded when they pondered the fact that these two could be the perfect pairing. But while he’s out of jail because he only created deepfake nude pics of Elektra due to his obsession with her, Luna’s prison stay for murder has been secretly transferred to Bill’s mansion. Things got really creepy when she kissed Bill after a DNA test proved he wasn’t her father. Lisa Yamada recently shared her thoughts on that sharp left turn into the Twilight Zone that Luna’s story took.
Lean on Bill
Bill (Don Diamont) had Luna transferred from prison to his estate without letting anyone know. He’s secretly been trying to get at the heart of what motivated her to commit such heinous acts. One truly uncomfortable thing Luna did was kiss Bill, not once, but twice. Because Luna never knew who her father was, Yamada rationalized to Soap Opera Digest, “Bill was the first man in her life, the first man that had been there for her in a way that a father should, and I think she was really confused.”
She felt that her character now feels awful about what she did, and is benefitting from having Bill as this new presence in her life to guide her back onto the straight and narrow. Because the two have been able to open up to each other about their less than stellar upbringings, it’s created something Luna never had: “He’s someone that she can lean on.”
Art Imitated Life
Yamada praised Diamont for being, “the most amazing scene partner to work with.” Diamont has mentored her on the show and she felt that their real-world connection has been reflected in this new dynamic their characters now have. She loves that he gives her advice on set, and praised the great parallel between the actors’ relationships and their characters’ relationships.
She also found it absolutely funny that Luna’s still in prison, but in style. “Oh, you killed two people and you get to be on house arrest in a big old mansion!” she quipped. She jokingly stated that she would swap places with Luna in a heartbeat, then seriously noted she was glad for her character. Although that probably would never happen in real life, Yamada remarked, “Anything can happen on the show and that’s kind of like the beauty of it.” (Learn what key thing is missing from Bill’s plan for Luna.)
