Katherine Heigl Shares Most Embarrassing ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Scene She Ever Did

Although she left Grey’s Anatomy in 2010, Katherine Heigl vividly recalls a specific scene from the show, one that she even feels embarrassed about! Here’s why!
Calling all Grey’s Anatomy fans! Did you know that Katherine Heigl is embarrassed by one iconic scene in the series? Despite having left the hit ABC show in 2010, her role as Izzie Stevens left a significant mark on her. To this day, she fondly remembers her time on the show.

However, there’s one particular moment that has etched itself in her memory and that of her former co-star, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Recall, during Season 5, the two actors shared a very intense storyline.

Izzie, suffering from a brain tumor, hallucinates seeing her deceased ex-fiancé. Initially, she doesn’t realize that her visions are symptoms of her grave illness and savors what she believes to be a reunion, even making love to him.

This was a particularly challenging scene for the actress, one she admits she cannot watch with her family, as she told Entertainment Weekly: “We’ve never watched Grey’s together partly because I wonder how I would explain it… I would be so embarrassed if that happened.”

She continued: “I don’t know how to explain it, but I’m sure I would feel awkward because my daughter would tease me about it. It’s just better not to give her ammo against me.”

“Filming Was Really Awkward”
Nevertheless, the actress is pleased that the story of the two characters reached a meaningful conclusion: “I was happy that Izzie and Denny could finally be together and have a real relationship. However, filming was really awkward, not necessarily the scenes themselves, but the whole concept of the storyline.”
Jeffrey Dean Morgan agrees: “I don’t remember much, and I don’t know if anyone thought it was working while we were doing it.”
“She could never look me straight in the eye or admit that I existed. And I remember yelling at her while everyone was feeding her medical jargon. And it unsettled everyone,” added the actor.

“It Was Confusing for Everyone”
Katherine Heigl concludes: “It was confusing for everyone. There’s one scene in particular that I will never watch with my kids. I don’t care how old they are. I don’t care if they are 60, I will not watch it with them.”
“It’s a scene where you are in the room with me and I have to absolutely convince myself that you’re not there,” she said to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, “Alex and Izzie start kissing passionately and he begins to pleasure her. And you were right there, just beside us.”

It’s clear that both actors will never forget the scenes they shared in Season 5. Meanwhile, for those waiting for more, Season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy is currently airing every Wednesday night starting at 9:10 PM on TF1.
