Jennifer Aniston Opens Up About Being “Haunted” by Her Iconic Rachel Green Role

Jennifer Aniston is tired of not being able to escape the shadow of her role as Rachel Green in the series “Friends”.

On June 24, the star told  Hollywood Reporter : “I’m making myself miserable. I can’t escape the role of Rachel Green for the rest of my life. The movie has been shown over and over again for years. Sometimes I wish people would stop talking about it.” That thought made Jennifer Aniston unhappy, started to doubt her own abilities and believed that the negative comments about her were true.

The Good Girl ( 2002) was the first project that made her feel she could play a character other than Rachel Green. The star played Justine Last, a 30-year-old woman who lacked motivation in life because of being with an alcoholic husband who was irresponsible towards his family. Justine Last had an affair with a colleague who helped her find joy in life again. However, this person later revealed his true character and caused her much suffering.

At 51, Jennifer Aniston still feels the need to prove her acting chops. “I’m always trying to show that I can do more than that role (Rachel Green). When you do comedy, people assume you can’t do drama. They forget that many actors can do a lot of variety. It’s all about exploring and approaching new material. However, as you get older, you feel freer and less concerned about what other people think of you.”

Recently, Jennifer said that she often watches Friends again while staying at home to avoid the epidemic. She and the main cast will participate in making an episode about an hour long, continuing the story of the characters after 10 seasons of Friends . The project is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series, produced by HBO.

Jennifer Aniston, born in 1969, is famous for her role as Rachel Green in the series Friends . After the film, she became a Hollywood A-list star and moved to acting in movies.
