Jennifer Aniston emotionally recalled her final text message conversation with actor Matthew Perry just hours before his sudden death.
“Matthew is happy and healthy. He quit smoking, he’s getting back in shape and he’s doing great. That’s all I know,” she said through tears in an interview with Variety on December 11. Co-star Reese Witherspoon sat next to Jennifer Aniston, holding her hand as she wiped away tears.
She added: “I texted him that morning. Matty was still funny. He wasn’t in pain, he wasn’t struggling. He was happy.” While some have speculated about Matthew’s possible relapse, Jennifer stressed that the actor is actually healthy, working hard and pursuing his goals despite going through some difficult issues.
In the interview, Jennifer Aniston also thanked Matthew for bringing so much laughter and joy to her and the Friends cast. The 54-year-old star praised the actor for creating the character Chandler Bing with his own charming identity and leading his co-stars in the famous sitcom.
