In the age of streaming, viewers have found themselves gravitating to films that they can watch over and over again. . When asked what movies he watches frequently, Dornan surprised fans when he wrote, “I watch Home Alone obviously because we all do that.”

The John Hughes classic usually sees an uptick in viewership around the holidays, but it was interesting to hear Dornan specifically name the film. Home Alone certainly has a lot of re-watch value, as does most of Hughes’ other hits.

Kenneth Branagh Smells Nice

When conducting an AMA, stars rarely entertain the sillier questions and instead focus on the more serious minded queries. However, couched in a more serious question, a user used their time to inquire about the scent of Belfast director Kenneth Branagh. Humorously, Dornan responded and finally put the question to bed when he responded, “I did only get to smell Ken properly in Telluride…but he does smell nice!”

Though much is known about Branagh and his terrific career as a filmmaker and actor, Dornan was finally able to settle the debate as to whether the actor smell nice or not. Though the entire thing was most likely a joke, the user certainly had to have been curious enough to include it in their questions for Dornan.

As an actor, Dornan has no doubt taken inspiration from celebrated filmmakers. Though he had previously expressed his love for comedy films, when asked about his favorite filmmakers Dornan showed a more serious mind. When asked, he specifically named “Ken Branagh. Paul Thomas Anderson. Barry Jenkins. Kathryn Bigelow. Scorsese. Spielberg.”

Dornan presented a wide range of favorite filmmakers and each of the directors listed has directed classics in their time. With Branagh on the list, Dornan has already worked with one favorite and perhaps he may get the chance to work with others in the future.

Jamie Dornan has frequently proven himself to be an adept dramatic actor, but he has flexed his comedic muscles as well, and his turn as Edgar in Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar showed that he had a funny bone. When asked who or what inspired him to be an actor, Dornan wrote “Before I was doing it in a big way, I was more inspired by comedy.”

There is a lot of craft that goes into a comedic performance. Some of the best comedic actors have made great turns in dramatic roles and though surprising, it makes sense that a flexible actor like Dornan was inspired by comedy.

Sometimes a specific detail from a film or TV show sticks in a viewer’s head and they have to ask about it when given the chance. One such scene came in the police drama series The Fall in which Dornan’s character Paul peels an orange in one swift move. When asked if it was real, Dornan responded, “Yes that was me and I did it in one take.”

Executing a difficult action in one take is a difficult task and exceedingly rare, especially because most filmmakers get several good takes for posterity. Obviously, Dornan was proud of his skill especially because he could recall a seemingly forgettable moment from years earlier
