Virgin River Season 7 Could Still Return This YearSince Virgin River released its first season in 2019, the series has maintained a rate of releasing one season per year. The production for season 6 started in February 2024 and wrapped up in June before dropping in December, while season 5 was dropped in September 2023, with filming taking place in summer 2022. With season 7 production beginning in March, the show will likely return at the end of the year, if not the beginning of next year. This puts season 7 roughly on track with Virgin River’s consistent release schedule, but again, not without a small delay. All core cast members are expected to return, including two new stars introduced in season 6. While season 7 is in production, a Virgin River prequel focusing on Mel’s parents, Everett and Sarah, is currently in development. Callum Kerr and Jessica Rothe, who debuted the younger versions of Everett and Sarah, will be returning for season 7, indicating that the show will continue to expand the multi-generational love stories.
Our Take On Virgin River Season 7
The New Season Will Be PackedThe way Virgin River season 6 ended has left plenty to look forward to in season 7. Mel and Jack, who have the central storyline in the show, are faced with a sticky situation as newlyweds in the season 6 finale. A very pregnant Marley asks them to adopt her baby in fear that the current couple won’t come through. Meanwhile, Brie, Brady, and Mike’s love triangle gets more complicated, and the clinic has its own drama waiting to unfold in season 7.
Needless to say, the new season has a lot to unpack, and it doesn’t look like Netflix will let viewers down with a long wait. Filming is expected to wrap at the end of June. The small delay on the start date is more consistent with the show’s track record than anything alarming, and hopefully, more updates will come as Virgin River season 7’s production is underway.
