I’m Convinced Gordon Ramsay Is The Greatest Chef For This One Reason

Gordon Ramsay, known for his show Hell’s Kitchen, is one of the greatest and most famous chefs of all time. In addition to his culinary skills, the British chef is known for his fiery temper, an affinity for swearing, and dishing out tough love. He has redefined the culinary standards of every show he has starred in.

Chef Ramsay’s first documented television appearance was in the 1999 documentary miniseries Boiling Point. After that, Chef Ramsay produced multiple cooking shows, including big hits like Hell’s KitchenMaster Chef, and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. Chef Ramsay is one of the best chefs of all time, and there are many reasons why.

Chef Ramsay Had Humble Beginnings

He Worked As A Dishwasher

Long before he became a world-class chef, Chef Ramsay’s first job was working as a dishwasher at a local Indian restaurant, where his sister also worked as a waitress. Coming from humble beginnings makes his enormous success all that much more impressive. Not only does he appreciate everything more, but he also has to be an outstanding chef to get to where he is. From washing dishes in an Indian restaurant to receiving an award from the late Queen Of England, Chef Ramsay’s career has been on an incredible trajectory that very few people could ever accomplish.

In addition to being an incredible chef, Chef Ramsay is also a black belt in karate who had planned to be a professional soccer player. An injury destroyed his dream of being a professional athlete. With his lifelong dream sidelined, Gordon went to culinary school as a backup plan. His unique backstory and career trajectory make him see the world differently and influence how he approaches cooking.

Chef Ramsay is more than just a charismatic television chef playing a role. Gordon founded his restaurant group, Gordon Ramsay Restaurants, in 1997. He has been awarded an impressive 17 Michelin stars overall since then, currently holding eight of them (via Escoffier). Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, London, is his signature restaurant, but he can also boast Le Pressoir d’Argent, Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen, and several others.

Chef Ramsay takes his hospitality business seriously. When the superstar actress Joan Collins attended one of his restaurants with food critic A. A. Gill, she was thrown out by Chef Ramsay himself. Gordon was so upset about Gill’s criticism of his food that he asked them both to leave the restaurant. Chef Ramsay later apologized to Joan.

Hell’s Kitchen and Masterchef can both be streamed on Hulu.
