He might be an Irish heartthrob but Jamie Dornan is also a happily married man and father-of-three.
With a fan club of admirers that includes Maura Higgins, the 41-year-old actor has been in a relationship for over two decades with his wife Amelia Warner, so the chance of a successful slide into the DMs is very unlikely.
While Amelia crossed our minds at least once during those steamy Fifty Shades scenes – how does the wife of the actor doing that on-screen feel? – there’s one thing we’re not too sure about, how did they meet? Here’s what we know!
How did they meet?
The year was 2010 when the two ran into each other at a party. Well, it wasn’t so much a coincidental meeting as it was Jamie literally dropping the mic and taking to his heels to reach his future wife-to-be.
‘She’d been an actor so I knew who she was,’ Jamie told James Corden on his Late Late Show. ‘I always fancied her, and we were doing karaoke and … a friend of ours said, “Listen, Amelia Warner’s at a house party up by Los Feliz and she’s single.” I literally dropped the mic and was like, you know, ran for the hills.’
In another interview with Irish journalist Eamonn Mallie, the actor said on Face-to-Face that he knew he and Amelia were meant to be. ‘I had this weird thing where I always felt that if I met her that we would just get on. It was just a strange thing. Something about her eyes. I just thought that we would work.’
‘I didn’t tell her that,’ he added quickly, laughing, ‘That would have been a bit too strong, I think, as an opener. It was definitely an epiphany moment. I feel like you’ll have a few of those in your life.’
Making things official
It was a relatively short courtship for the smitten couple who tied the knot in April 2013.
