Heather Tom Celebrates 35th Anniversary with a Star-Studded All-Female Bold and the Beautiful Episode!

The B&B star is celebrating Women’s History Month in a big way.
The Bold and the Beautiful is planning something special for its upcoming 35th anniversary. It will feature an all-female episode, a groundbreaking moment for the soap. Heather Tom will star, write, and direct this special episode.

Making History
Tom is juggling three roles on the 35th anniversary of B&B. She wrote, directed, and acted in the all-female episode, which will air on Thursday, March 27, just in time for Women’s History Month. The episode will feature the show’s stars Annika Noelle (Hope), Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy), Jennifer Gareis (Donna), Rebecca Budig (Taylor), and Tom (Katie).

In a statement to Deadline, Tom explained how this historic moment was made. “Brad Bell actually came up to me and said, ‘This is your 35th year. You’ve been writing and directing. You’ve also been acting the whole time, and I think it would be amazing if you did all three in one show,” Tom explained. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’ll be interesting! So logistically, it was just, well, let’s just figure out how I can be on stage acting in the scenes and then directing those scenes.”
Tom calls this episode an “important” moment, not only for B&B but also for Women’s History Month. This episode will have an all-female cast and a crew, complete with a female assistant director, stage manager, and editors. This is a “historic” moment for B&B.

GH’s All-Female Episode
Soap fans will remember when GH featured an episode written and directed by all women in 2020. However, it wasn’t written by a female lead of the show. Tom wanted to focus on mother-and-daughter relationships for this episode. This decision was personal since she mounted the loss of her mom last year.

“I wanted to kind of pay homage to her because I certainly wouldn’t be here without her, literally and figuratively. So I got a little bit of her in there with Katie and Donna, who are sisters who lost their mom,” Tom said. The entire episode was filmed in February. Even though it’s a special episode, it will still fit in with the storylines that are currently unfolding. “We considered doing something that was more of a standalone, but Brad felt, and I agreed that it needed to just kind of flow with the story, and it made sense,” Tom explained.
