Gordon Ramsay’s Restaurant Struck by Heist: 500 Lucky Cats Stolen, Worth 69 Million VND!

The newly opened restaurant of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay in London (UK) has become the target of thieves. In just one week, 477 lucky cat statues disappeared, causing more than 2,000 pounds of damage.

Lucky Cat Restaurant is located at 22 Bishopsgate, one of the tallest buildings in London. With a distinctive Asian style , the restaurant space is decorated with hundreds of maneki-neko lucky cat statues.

This is a famous Japanese cultural symbol, often displayed in restaurants , shops and businesses to bring good luck. However, it seems that their presence not only attracts fortune but also attracts guests with bad intentions.

“The statues keep getting stolen. Last week we lost 477 of them, each worth £4.50,” the 58-year-old chef said. The total loss is estimated at £2,146.50 (equivalent to more than 69 million VND).

Despite the large amount of damage, London police said they had not received any reports related to the theft at Ramsay’s restaurant.

In addition to theft, Lucky Cat has also encountered many “half-laughing, half-crying” situations. One of them is that couples often go to the bathroom together. Ramsay did not go into details but hinted that this is a problem that gives the restaurant staff a “headache”.

Despite the unexpected incidents, the famous chef still expressed pride in the staff and talented chefs working at his restaurant chain. Currently, Gordon Ramsay owns more than 80 restaurants worldwide, continuing to expand his culinary empire.
