GH Shock: Is It Time for Kristina to Be Committed?

Its time.
Kristina is well past a breakdown.
Mental Decline
It is no surprise that General Hospita’s Kristina (Kate Mansi) is barely hanging on by a thread. In the last year, she has lost the child she was carrying for her sister Molly (Kristen Vaganos) and TJ (Tajh Bellow). As the birth neared, Kristina started having maternal pangs and questioned whether she still wanted to give the baby to her sister. That caused a massive divide between the sisters. Driven by her hatred of Ava (Maura West), Kristina went to confront her and ended up falling out of Ava’s hotel room window, landing in the pool below, which led to a miscarriage.

Shortly after that, Kristina lost her sister, Sam (Kelly Monaco), who was murdered by Cyrus (Jeff Kober). Kristina became more and more unstable as the weeks passed by and her hatred grew when she came into her father’s living room while Sonny (Maurice Benard) was in the throes of a heart related episode, with Ava standing over him and his pills just out of reach. That was the final straw for Kristina and that led her to cut Ava’s brake lines…or so she thought.
She actually cut Ric’s (Rick Hearst) brake lines, which resulted in a serious car accident with his passenger, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst). Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) saw Kristina at the crash site and pressed her on why she was there and asked her what she had done. Ava did a little digging and found out the brake lines were cut and she and Ric devised a plan to blackmail Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) with video proof on Kristina committing the act. After a chat with Lucky in the hospital chapel, Kristina was relieved to hear he would keep her secret.

Herein lies the problem. Instead of blaming Ava, or writing off Kristina’s behavior as grief, Kristina’s family and friends have done her a huge disservice. Sure, Molly got her to agree to go to counseling, but clearly that isn’t helping. What is it going to take for people to stop making excuses and have her committed? Her parents, Sonny and Alexis, are very concerned, but they need to exhibit some tough love, not constant coddling. Lucky should have gone straight to Sonny (who he shares a long history) to plead for him to help Kristina. Alexis, seeing the proof that Ava supplied, should not have had to wait for Diane (Carolyn Hennesy) to knock some sense into her. And that is only to get her a potentially better sentence if the truth comes out. Kristina has been rescued by her parents so many times that having their lawyer come in with the tough love really cemented the fact that Kristina gets away with everything. Maybe a stint in Pentonville will get her to actually change for real.

What would you like to see happen? Asylum, jail, off the canvas or keep the story rolling as long as possible before Kristina suffers the consequences of her actions?
