‘Fifty Shades’ Star Reveals Why She Has No Regrets About Her Bold Role

To find a big opportunity, sometimes you have to accept small roles, including accepting “slander” so that at least you will be noticed and mentioned. Dakota does not regret her choice.

Actress Dakota Johnson was born into a family with a long tradition of performing arts in Hollywood. Generations of her family were talented actors in the film capital. Her parents were two veteran actors, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, and her grandmother was the famous actress of the time – Tippi Hedren.

Despite possessing impressive beauty and a passion for acting from a very early age, Dakota did not make a significant mark in her chosen acting career.

It was only when she accepted the role of the female lead Anastasia Steele in the hot movie series “50 Shades of Grey” adapted from the best-selling novel series of the same name, that Dakota truly became a notable face in Hollywood.

Since leaving the “50 Shades” series, Dakota’s image and career have changed. She has truly become a star and received many more acting offers.

However, the “Fifty Shades” series is not highly regarded. The original novels themselves are considered a popular, short-lived entertainment genre, belonging to the genre of erotic novels and have appeared many times in the top books that readers… leave behind in hotels or on public transportation.

It is not a book that makes people want to display it on their bookshelves. When it was adapted to the big screen, it was the hot and “provocative” elements of the series that “hit” the curious audience’s psychology to go to the cinema to see how the “hot” scenes in the novel would be “deployed” on the big screen.

Of course, this series was not made to win over film critics, and it is not surprising that it received a lot of criticism from critics, as long as the series “did well” at the box office.

For her part, Dakota Johnson – a “family-bred” actress who was “ignored” by Hollywood, but received attention thanks to a series of “hot” movies – did not feel embarrassed or ashamed when accepting to play an unappreciated role in “50 Shades of Grey”.

Speaking to BW magazine (Australia), Dakota affirmed: “My acceptance of the role in ’50 Shades of Grey’ was not a thoughtless act. I was interested in the role and respected the role. I am proud of the series and do not feel I have to force myself to break any stereotypes about that role.

“If I could go back in time, I would still take the role, just look back at my situation before coming to the series… It was the series that guided my career to an incredible new journey, I have matured a lot after the series. Although the road sometimes had potholes, I learned a lot from it and made myself strong and steady.”

Before appearing in the 50 Shades of Grey series in 2015, Dakota was one of those “family-made” actors who were already known in Hollywood, but directors often didn’t give her the opportunity to show herself.

After starring in the big-budget film series “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Dakota has truly transformed. Now, the 29-year-old actress has a wide open path in her career.

The 3-part “Fifty Shades of Grey” series has grossed a total of $1.8 billion at the global box office, despite not receiving much sympathy from critics.

Dakota’s co-star in the series – male lead Jamie Dornan – also shared his feelings about his role, however, he was not as confident and strong as Dakota: “Part of me still can’t believe I can act in such movies. There is a part of me that always wonders: Why do people make movies from those books?”.

Overcoming the comments and evaluations about her roles as “romance” and “all hot scenes”, Dakota is now “getting into gear” to participate in more artistic film projects.
